{"id":2046,"date":"2018-08-14T11:16:31","date_gmt":"2018-08-14T11:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/playright.be\/lid-worden\/"},"modified":"2024-04-23T13:05:45","modified_gmt":"2024-04-23T13:05:45","slug":"become-a-member","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/playright.be\/en\/become-a-member\/","title":{"rendered":"Become a PlayRight member"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In order to collect your neighbouring rights, you have to become a member of PlayRight<\/strong> (or a collective management company abroad in charge of collecting your rights ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"mce_21\"><strong>PlayRight membership is free. <\/strong>You just need to answer to the following two requirements:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Am I a <strong>&ldquo;performing artist&rdquo;?<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Is my artistic performance <strong>recorded?<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The definition of &ldquo;recording&rdquo; is a fairly broad one. We talk about a recording once a<strong> performance is recorded by whatever means<\/strong> because its recording allows it to be copied and broadcast at a later stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acoustic sessions during a radio programme for instance are usually recorded to ensure that the live version can be played again afterwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-text-color has-background has-pr-green-background-color\" href=\"\/en\/how-to-join-playright-as-a-member\/\" style=\"color:#ffffff\"><strong>How to become a member<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-pr-green-background-color has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/portal.playright.be\/MembershipMng\/PlayRightRegistration2.aspx\" style=\"color:#ffffff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Become a member<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"mce_24\"><strong>Good to know:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Both&nbsp;<strong>adult and underage artists can join<\/strong>. Minors do have to list the name of their parent or guardian and the&nbsp;account number has to be in the name of the minor artist and has to be blocked until his\/her majority (in accordance with Belgian law, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ejustice.just.fgov.be\/cgi_loi\/loi_a1.pl?language=fr&amp;la=F&amp;cn=1971031602&amp;table_name=loi&amp;&amp;caller=list&amp;F&amp;fromtab=loi&amp;tri=dd+AS+RANK&amp;rech=1&amp;numero=1&amp;sql=(text+contains+(%27%27))#Art.7.12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"here in French (s&rsquo;ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\">here in French<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ejustice.just.fgov.be\/cgi_loi\/change_lg.pl?language=nl&amp;la=N&amp;cn=1971031602&amp;table_name=wet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"here in Dutch (s&rsquo;ouvre dans un nouvel onglet)\">here in Dutch<\/a>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At the time of joining, artists are also free to&nbsp;<strong>appoint a representative<\/strong>&nbsp;who ensures that their performances are declared or who will manage their file.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can also play an&nbsp;<strong>active part<\/strong>&nbsp;in the decision-making process within PlayRight by becoming a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/playright.be\/en\/how-to-become-a-playright-shareholder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PlayRight Shareholder<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"mce_26\"><strong>Join as an heir? <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also <strong>heirs of artists<\/strong> can join PlayRight even if the artist in question was never affiliated to PlayRight. If he\/she was a member of PlayRight however, you simply take over the deceased&rsquo;s type of membership (ordinary member or shareholder).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Membership as an heir allows you to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Collect the royalties generated by the repertoire of the deceased artist,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add recordings to the deceased&rsquo;s repertoire that were never declared<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the deceased was a shareholder of PlayRight and left several heirs, the latter must appoint an authorised representative who can represent all the heirs collectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To join as an heir, all you need to do is to enclose a copy of the artist&rsquo;s death certificate and of the notarial deed that lists you as heir with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/portal.playright.be\/MembershipMng\/PlayRightRegistration2.aspx?Language=EN\">your membership form<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-pr-green-background-color has-text-color has-background\" href=\"https:\/\/portal.playright.be\/MembershipMng\/PlayRightRegistration2.aspx\" style=\"color:#ffffff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Become a member<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In order to collect your neighbouring rights, you have to become a member of PlayRight (or a collective management company abroad in charge of collecting your rights ).
