Following the introduction of the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act in 1994, the company could start collecting and distributing the relevant neighbouring rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Neighbouring rights? Performer?&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Put simply: when a performing artist (musician, actor, dancer, vaudeville or circus artist) takes part in the performance of a work, and if that performance is recorded and then broadcast or copied, the artist in question is entitled to a fee. In other words, the artist acquire a neighbouring right at the moment of the performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PlayRight defends the interests of musicians, actors, dancers and circus and vaudeville artists. The society has more than 19.000 affiliated artists in Belgium and abroad.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/playright.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/AG_2018_Playright-26.jpg\" alt=\"General Assembly 2018\" class=\"wp-image-6603\" width=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/playright.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/AG_2018_Playright-26.jpg 5448w, https:\/\/playright.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/AG_2018_Playright-26-370x247.jpg 370w, https:\/\/playright.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/AG_2018_Playright-26-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/playright.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/AG_2018_Playright-26-1920x1280.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 5448px) 100vw, 5448px\" \/><figcaption>General Assembly 2018<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To this very day, it is managed by performers who, as <strong><a href=\"\/en\/how-to-become-a-playright-shareholder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shareholders<\/a><\/strong>, form part of the PlayRight General Assembly. The General Assembly appoints the Board of Directors which, in turn, appoints the Executive.
