Fund Belgian Music: spotlight on the first call for projects in the press

November 25 2020

Fund Belgian Music is an initiative by PlayRight+, Galm, Facir en Sabam for Culture (in collaboration with the King Baudouin Foundation). Its purpose is to support music projects from all over the country and in all kinds of genres.

By doing this, we wish to lay the foundations of a healthier future for the Belgian music!

Since the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in many musicians having to pause their activities completely, the Fund Belgian Music has decided to focus on relaunch initiatives for its first call for projects. More specifically, the fund wants to provide financial support for Belgian musicians who can demonstrate that they want to seize every new opportunity to (re)launch their project, after it was put on hold due to the crisis.

This financial support is, therefore, intended for musicians whose activities or performances were (partly) cancelled. On the basis of a file that the artists had to submit, they were able to claim financial support of up to 10.000 euros.

The first call for projects ended on November 12th, 2020. Around 600 project proposals were submitted!

In the weeks to come, all the projects will be accurately analyzed by the Fund Belgian Music team and evaluated by a jury composed of Marie Paule Wouters, Eric Russon, John Terra, Pauline Leblanc, Cloé Defossez, Patrick Printz, Rrita Jashari et Aya Braem.

The names of the elected projects will, consequently, be announced in December.

Also the press played an important role during this initiative. In the press review below, we grouped the most important articles about the Fund Belgian Music. Stay tuned for our second call for projects!
