PlayRight has carried out the first distribution of music rights for the reference year 2024. The total sum received by our musicians and artists affiliated via a sister society abroad is 5.013.811,93 €. A second, and final distribution of rights generated by music recordings that were broadcast and/or exploited in Belgium in 2024 will follow in 2028.

HOW ARE THESE NEIGHBORING RIGHTS GENERATED?

The remunerations of these rights come from the equitable remuneration, private copying, the lending right and the remuneration for education and scientific research. These remunerations were collected as compensation for music recordings broadcast and/or exploited in Belgium in 2024.

FIRST/CLOSING DIVISION: HOW DOES IT WORK?

PlayRight always realises the distribution of your rights in two stages. The deadline for declaring the repertoires that can generate rights for the 2024 reference year is 31 December 2027.

HOW ARE MY RIGHTS CALCULATED?

For every distribution of your rights as a musician on the Belgian territory, PlayRight matches the declared repertoires with:

• The playlists of radio stations and the audience rates;
• The Ultratop sales lists;
• Streaming numbers.

WHAT RADIOS ARE IN PLAYRIGHT’S PLAYLISTS?

Once these remunerations have been collected, PlayRight links your declared repertoire with these playlists, which contain all recordings that will generate rights for a certain year. You can find these playlists via your online portal in the PlayRight menu and declare your performances based on the tracks you recognize. You can also find this playlist in your online portal. Using the playlist, you can declare your performances faster and easier, and you can be sure that your song(s) are indeed present in a playlist and therefore generate rights. PlayRight charges operational fees before the calculation of the rights allocated to you, as well as deductions related to the sociocultural actions of PlayRight+. Learn more

WHAT IF I HAVEN’T DECLARED ANYTHING?

Don’t panic! This is only an initial distribution. PlayRight always distributes twice. A first distribution now; it will be completed with a final distribution in 2028.
