Election 2014: Memorandum for the performing artist

back to lexicon

In the run up to the election in May 2015 PlayRight + drafted a ‘Memorandum for the performing artist’.

The freedom to choose a life as a performer is guaranteed, the possibilities to develop as a performer as well. And yet artists still feel restricted in the development of a professional career. Even if they make full use of the opportunities offered to them, it appears increasingly difficult to achieve a full fledged income from their artistic activities.

Therefore the 21 recommendations of this memorandum put their focus on the sources of income of our performers. It is drafted around three basic pillars: delivering performances in return for a feethe neighboring rights of the performer and a cultural and subsidy policy that puts the focus on the employment of performers.

The memorandum has been the immediate cause for several successful encounters between PlayRight+ and policymakers at all levels.

You can find the full text of the memorandum on our website, in French or in Dutch.
