The second and final distribution of international rights collected in 2022 has been carried out. This distribution concerns both music and audiovisual recordings that were broadcast abroad. The amount that PlayRight paid out during this second distribution… 447.000€!

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: WHERE DO THESE INTERNATIONAL RIGHTS COME FROM?

When you, as an artist, become a member of PlayRight, you have the option to grant us a worldwide mandate in your contract. Based on agreements with our sister societies abroad, we collect information on how your repertoire is used in over 40 countries. This allows us to collect the right remunerations on an international level.

International neighbouring rights are calculated according to the rules of the local collecting societies. PlayRight does check the quality of their data in detail and handles the payment of all calculated rights once received.

The amount of international rights that we paid out to our associated artists during this second distribution is 447.000€.

WHAT IS THIS DISTRIBUTION BASED ON?

Each distribution of international rights is based on several reference years, both for music and/or audio-visual recordings. This particular distribution of international rights contains the following territories and reference years:

This second distribution follows a first distribution of 1,183,042€ that was carried out in February 2022.

This latest distribution brings the total amount of distributed international rights to 1.6 million €.

As any collecting society abroad, PlayRight takes a 5% fee from the amount of international rights collected after 1 December 2016.
